Power 45
‘Power 45’ is a 45 minute high-intensity class, that combines boxing and *martial arts moves, with an *aerobic workout. We work in 'intervals', which is the most efficient way to train the heart and lungs and burn calories. You will learn self-defence moves, and gain confidence in yourself and your abilities. There is a calming, yoga-based cool-down to finish.
There are NO dance moves so it is suitable for both men and women. The music is powerful, energising and uplifting.
Power 45, only needs to be 45 minutes long! It is guaranteed to sculpt and shape your body, increase your core stability, burn loads of calories and fat, make you stronger, and give you a TOTAL body workout to make you leaner and fitter.
So who is this class suitable for?
If you enjoy a good, high tempo workout where you can let off steam; if you have done martial arts in the past; if you want to try something different, or really want to make a difference to your body shape, then this is for you.
Note; This is not a beginners class; you need a reasonable level of fitness and be reasonably coordinated.
The Science.
The benefits of aerobic exercise are many. They include reduced cholesterol and blood pressure, improved muscular endurance, reduced body fat and increased metabolism, to name a few. Aerobic activities strengthen the heart and lungs, making them more efficient and durable, improving quality and quantity of life.
Aerobic exercise improves the strength of your bones, ligaments and tendons, allows your body to use fats and sugars more efficiently, burns lots of calories and plays an important role in reducing the onset and symptoms of aging and illness.
*Explanation - Aerobic exercise is defined as any long duration exercise of low to moderate difficulty using the large muscle groups of the body such as the legs, back, gluteals, arms, etc.
******************************************************Most martial art styles will improve cardiovascular fitness as well as tone the muscular system. Strength will increase from the calisthenics usually employed within martial arts training, overall power of one’s body will definitely increase since martial arts techniques teach how to use strength effectively.
Most people will also significantly improve their flexibility as entire ranges of motion from the body are exercised. All martial art styles will result in an improvement of one’s coordination as well.
Unlike many other forms of physical activity, martial arts also have a mental element, which improves the mind’s focus.
Emotions such as anger and fear are better controlled through martial arts. These particular benefits translate into one of the most effective stress management tools available.
**Important**
Before you join Power 45, you will need to take an induction class. There will be moves and techniques that will be new to you; to prevent injury, and be safe in the way we perform these moves, we need to learn them correctly, this you will do in the induction.
Notes; wear good supportive shoes and non-restrictive clothing, bring a towel and water.
